Up & Over Doors

Up and Over garage doors are by far the most common garage door type within the UK still today. Their simple one piece panel construction makes them very easy to use and provide both a low-effort and zero hassle operation.

Ultimate Pvc Windows & Doors Ltd can offer you an enormous choice of designs and materials for your new up and over garage door and will always make sure the size and gear type is correct for your requirements. After all if you do not buy the correct garage door you may not be able to actually use your garage for what you first intended it for!

Up and over garage doors fall into two main categories for the types of operating mechanism - canopy or retractable. This is how the garage door panel opens and closes and both mechanisms have their uses in different applications. The illustrations further down show both garage door types half open with the optional steel fixing sub frame attached.

Side Hung Doors

The wonderfully versatile side hinged garage doors offer solutions to so many problems and provides opportunities not possible with other types of garage door. They are simple in operation and easy to maintain over the years with minimal moving machanical parts.

We have seen a marked increase in the number of requests for side hinged traditional type garage doors over the years and the choice of materials, styles and finishes is bigger than ever before.

Customers have realised the practicality of side hinged doors for busy lifestyles where the garage is NOT being used for a vehicle and frequent access is required as the garage is used as a large storeroom for bikes, toys, etc. and very often freezers or laundry facilities as well as workshop, gym or general room.

Sectional Doors

Sectional garage doors are one of the most popular and practical choices for style, safety, security and an easy to use and versatile garage door system. They are called sectional garage doors because they open and close in seperated individual panel sections, operating vertically without any swing out from the structural opening and tracking mechanism at all. Because of this operation almost any shape of garage opening can be installed to, i.e. arched, angled corners etc.

Some of the larger manufacturers also produce very high quality timber sectional doors in various quality sourced softwoods and hardwoods such as Hemlock, European Oak, Iroko, Mahogany or Cedarwood. These are made to standard or bespoke designs up to 5000mm wide. If your requirement is for a heavy hardwood timber such as Oak a sectional door would be perfect as up and over and side hinged doors are only made up to 8 feet wide (2438mm) in European Oak.

Sectional garage doors will make full use of the space in front of or behind your garage opening as they all open vertically. This mechanism is ideal for shorter driveways, garages next to pathways and internal space problems with higher 4 x 4 and taller vehicles. Standard sizes can be used in non standard openings as the door panels glide behind the structural opening maing a much more diverse range available when ordering.
